Acknowledgements
For us, to nurture the ground that supports us is to come into right relationship with the many webs of connection that sustain and shape Nurturing Ground. This means acknowledging and honouring the somatic connections to place, practice, ancestry, and context.
On Place
We are grateful to live, parent, practice, and learn on the sacred lands of the Djaara people of the Kulin Nation. This extends to honouring the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Boon Wurrung peoples, whose lands we are also in relationship with.
We are grateful for the living wisdom and ongoing custodianship of these lands and waters. We honour the continuation of these teachings and stand alongside Traditional Custodians in their ongoing care for Country, justice, and sovereignty.
On Practice
We honour the spiritual lineages, practices, and traditions that inform our lives and work — especially nature-based, yogic, embodiment, and tantric teachings in the non-dual tradition; Buddhism from the Insight and Zen traditions; and Traditional Chinese Medicine and Daoist philosophies.
We acknowledge the ancient roots and living traditions that continue to thrive, and the teachers, guides, and practitioners who have come before us, nurturing and inspiring our path. We recognise that these spiritual practices are not ours to own or appropriate, and that our responsibility is to practice and share with humility, reciprocity, and care.
On People
As descendants of English, Scottish, French, Welsh, Irish, and Jewish communities of Europe, we honour and pay our respects to the ancestors who came before us. We tend to the ways myth, ritual, and the implicit memories of their lands continue to weave through who we are and how we practice.
On Context
Nurturing Ground emerges in a time when human activity has an unprecedented impact on the planet. Our work is held as a commitment to care for Country and the living world. We recognise that every choice, conversation, and action ripples outward — shaping the wellbeing of other beings, lands, and generations to come.
